Red Sox ace David Price has potentially avoided disaster when it was revealed that the second MRI on his showed no structural damage, and he will not be needing surgery at this time.
Price, who has amassed more innings and pitches thrown over the last 3 years than anyone else, will stop throwing for 7-10 days then begin a light throwing program to test his arm.
With so much money invested in Price and with capable arms ready to fill in, the Sox will not be rushing Price back and he will most likely start the year on the DL.
For now it appears a bullet has been dodged but with older pitchers an initial scare can sometimes just be the first sign of a much bigger problem. As a fan of Prices game, and owner of him in fantasy I along with millions of BoSox will be waiting to hear continued good news.
