Draft Kings, May 16th Report
A slow day in baseball, both games and action wise. Monday gives way to a multitude of starting pitching options and some intriguing stack targets. Some of the most interesting news of the previous day did not come from on the field, but unfortunately off of it.
Indians ace Carlos Carrasco left his start in the 4th inning yesterday, the Giants put Hunter Pence on the DL, and the Diamondbacks did the same with A.J Pollock. The 10 day disabled list (DL) has allowed for teams to give their players rest for their injuries, while also opening up a roster spot for another player. This has been fantastic for the MLB and especially its managers, but it has hurt many of fantasy player’s teams and lineups.
Pitching report
Tuesday pitching slate features three aces in the form of Strasburg, Keuchel, and Darvish. Dallas Keuchel has gotten off to a hot start, but he does have a LOB% over 85%. These kind of underlying numbers are a bit disturbing, and I would avoid him on the road, especially at his price tag of 17,500. Kyle Freeland of the Rockies is the avant-garde pick of the night. Historically known as a place where pitchers go to die, because of the high elevation in Colorado, Rockies pitchers have led the league in road ERA this year. Kyle Freeland who is a Rockies pitcher and who is also pitching in a road game should provide good bang for the buck.
Hitters
Stack options for tonight include teams facing these pitchers: Koehler, Boyd, Hughs, and Bronson Arroyo. It is always surprising to see that the 39-year-old Arroyo is still pitching in the big leagues. Take advantage of this and pick up as many Cubs hitters as you can. Jose Altuve is my pick to click for the night. He faces of against Miami’s Tom Koehler. Altuve is heating up, and hit a home run yesterday. Look for him to do similar things tomorrow.
